About the Artist

"I am deeply grateful for the loving support and encouragement of my wonderful family, friends, and most especially my parents!!!"  -Maryam

Maryam began drawing at an early age.  The earliest sketch discovered was drawn when she was 3 years old.  Her mother realized early that she was amist an artist and decided to preserve a piece of history.  Okay okay, it was not quite DaVinci, but it was a start.  Like most children her age, she dreamt of becoming an animator.  She drew all her favorite cartoon characters learning techniques along the way.  Maryam continued to draw during high school, when she illustrated for the children's section of a local magazine.  She later was asked to work on the illustrations for a textbook series for a private elementary school.

It wasn't until 2001 when she was first introduced to the world of oil painting.  She had dabbled in acrylics and water colors before then, but never oils.  She joined Dan Gerhartz, an amazingly talented artist, for a couple of his weekly portrait painting sessions realizing there was so much to learn.  In 2005, Maryam studied under Gabe Kreiswirth, who provided her with the fundemental skills she still applies today.  In 2013, she discovered PVAC and began to study under the many talented artists and instructors including Edgar Silva, Rudolfo Rivademere, and Alex Schaefer.

Maryam is a member of the Palos Verdes Art Center, Artist Open Group, Torrance Artist Guild, and is an Associate at Destination: Art.  She currently has works in private collections in the United States and Europe.
